SHADOWSFALL FORMS AND TITLES
The Shadowsfall are an organisation with few forms and titles. Here is a complete list and a description of each
i) SHADOWSFALL JUDGE – any member of the Shadowsfall Tower who has taken the oath is technically a Shadowsfall judge. All this means is that they are considered qualified to adjudicate on matters of Orin Rakathan law and dispense summary justice.
ii) FACTION LEADER, DEPUTY FACTION LEADER and TOWER REPRESENTATIVE – these are effectively little more than specific job descriptions.
iii) ADEPT – a senior Shadowsfall. This title can only be gained in the following ways. Anyone holding the position of Faction Leader, Deputy Faction Leader or Tower Representative will be granted this title. Any Shadowsfall who has FOUR personal skills is granted this title. Any Shadowsfall who is noted for conspicuous conduct on TWO events within the period of one year can be awarded the title of Shadowsfall Adept by unanimous decision of their Faction Leader, Deputy Faction Leader and Tower Representative. (Conspicuous conduct is defined as any action or series of actions that make an individual stand out above his or her fellow faction members. EG. On HEROFEST 2, the Shadowsfall were able to gain their faction skill by gaining the most Favour. The amount of Favour gained was 425. Of these 425, Lucifer gained 205 of them. This is conspicuous conduct. NB. By definition, normally only ONE member of the faction can be said to have achieved conspicuous conduct on any one event).
iv) ARCHIVIST – the Archivists are the keepers of the Great Archive of Orin Rakatha. They are rumoured to have direct contact with the Mystics and are the secret Government of all the Shadowsfall.
v) TOWER LEADER and DEPUTY TOWER LEADER – are job titles. Pretty good ones though!
Apart from the Archivists, titles are on the whole pretty meaningless within the Shadowsfall. They normally operate on a “Johnny-on-the-spot” basis, meaning that the first person on the spot at any given time generally takes ownership of a situation. Technically, a Tower Leader or Deputy can overrule a Tower Representative, a Tower representative can overrule a Faction Leader or Deputy, a Faction Leader or Deputy can overrule an Adept of their Faction, and an Adept can overrule a non-Adept. In practice, however, this is virtually never done and anyone holding one of the above posts or titles is expected to understand this as part of their holding them. It is poor form for one Shadowsfall to “pull rank” on another, and, it is also poor form for a Shadowsfall to put another in a position where they are forced to “pull rank” on them. The Shadowsfall do not tolerate anyone who disrespects their leaders. Groups or individuals doing so are hunted down and killed until they make an appropriate apology.
